Ready to Expand Overseas Markets

Having been in operations for 30 years, Poo Yee X-Ray Mfg. Corp., a leading dental X-Ray equipment manufacturer, has established a strong and solid foundation in the dental clinic sector in Taiwan .

The dental X-Ray equipment offered by Poo Yee company is dominating 50 percent of the Taiwan market. "In other words, 50 of the dental X-Ray  units being used at private dental clinics in Taiwan are the products of Poo Yee Corporation," said Ellen Ko, general manager of the company.

"Our dental X-Ray equipment has been widely recognized by the private dentists throughout Taiwan ," stressed Ellen Ko. "We have enjoyed a good reputation here because of our reliable quality and good after-sales service. Our maintenance service is the topmost."

The general manager continued to say, "As far as quality and function is concerned, our dental X-Ray equipment are comparable to those made in advanced countries such as Japan, the European Union and the United States. Moreover, our prices are much lower."

Strong market dominance

Poo Yee Corporation offers several varieties of dental X-Ray equipment, including chair type, mobile unit, wall mounting type, portable type, and panoramic dental X-Ray unit and Panoramic and cephalometric units.

Ellen Ko said 80 percent of the X-Ray equipment produced by her company, located in Hsintien city, Taipei county, have been sold to local dental clinics with only 20 percent for export. "Our local demand is so strong that I do not find enough time to pay attention to overseas markets," said the general manager.

"Our domestic market is so solid and stable that I cannot afford to divert my attention," stressed Ellen Ko. "Instead, I would rather focus on taking good care of my local customers."

Lacking adequate manpower to handle the overseas market over the last few years was another reason why Poo Yee Corporation was hesitant in aggressively promoting its products in the world market, according to the general manager whose husband is a technical researcher.

Foreign markets

The dental X-Ray equipment developed by Poo Yee Corporation have been exported to Indonesia , Thailand , South Africa and other countries.

In an attempt to expand its market shares overseas, Poo Yee Corporation has begun efforts to make inroads into the EU and the U.S. markets, the general manager said. "We have exerted stronger efforts to promote our products overseas because my son and daughter have completed their graduate studies and indicated that they are interested in doing international sales for the company," stated Ellen Ko. With the intention of achieving bigger overseas market shares, Ms. Ko said, her company is prepared to participate in more major international trade shows next year.

Ellen Ko said some of the dental X-Ray units offered by Poo Yi Corporation remain to be used at some private clinics in Taiwan even after 10 to 20 years. "I mention these cases simply to show you that our products are of high reliability," stressed the general manager.

Go international

Ellen Ko has expressed satisfaction and happiness in bringing up her two children, one boy and one girl. Both have graduated from university, majoring in electrical engineering and environmental protection respectively. "I am glad that they are very independent and good in studies. With them joining the company, I can foresee better performance in terms of sales in the years to come," she said, with satisfaction and pleasure.
